Litigation Counsel

Litigation Counsel will manage lawsuits, litigation threats, regulatory matters, and broader legal strategy across jurisdictions. The role requires law admission in the US or UK, at least four years of post-qualification experience, litigation experience, and the ability to address complex technology and Internet-law issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the existing litigation team to formulate and implement litigation strategies.
  • Evaluate and respond to litigation threats and legal matters in various jurisdictions worldwide.
  • Select, onboard, and manage outside counsel across all aspects of litigation, including factual development, briefing, hearings, trials, and appeals.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop Cloudflare’s approach to intermediary liability, artificial intelligence, and emerging legal and technology issues globally.
  • Assist with government regulators and private organizations on issues relating to Cloudflare’s products and services.
  • Communicate with business leaders about ongoing litigation and litigation threats.
  • Provide training and resources to address future legal risks.

Requirements and Experience

  • Admission to practice law in the United States or the United Kingdom.
  • 4+ years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house, preferably with technology companies.
  • Experience litigating cases in one or more jurisdictions.
  • Strong communication skills and a cooperative approach to teamwork.
  • Ability to lead with empathy and understanding while embracing diverse points of view.
  • Flexibility to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with lawyers and non-lawyers to establish principled, thoughtful, and effective solutions.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage many tasks on complex projects.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously with limited guidance while exercising sound judgment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • For Washington, D.C.-based hires: estimated annual salary of $150,000–$207,000.
  • Eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.
