Responsibilities
- Independently review, analyze, and interpret highly complex multi-billion-dollar agreements from inception, providing comprehensive US GAAP conclusions.
- Collaborate with Legal, Sales, Sales Operations, Product, and Finance teams to provide real-time accounting guidance on deal structuring, new product launches, and evolving business models.
- Serve as subject matter expert on technical accounting, including ASC 606 and ASC 842; research, interpret, and apply relevant GAAP guidance to unique transactions and document positions.
- Analyze legal agreements to identify clauses impacting accounting (e.g., acceptance criteria, termination clauses, variable pricing, significant financing components, principal vs. agent).
- Translate technical accounting assessments into operational processes for billing, collections, and financial reporting; develop processes from scratch, streamline existing ones, and implement automation.
- Lead key aspects of month-end close for assigned revenue streams, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analyses.
- Serve as key contact for external auditors, preparing documentation and communicating accounting treatments.
- Champion initiatives to enhance internal controls, improve data integrity, and drive automation across revenue accounting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
- Deep expertise in US GAAP, particularly ASC 606 and ASC 842, with proven ability to apply to highly complex, non-standard transactions.
- Exceptional contract review and analysis skills.
- Proven track record of independently researching technical accounting topics, forming conclusions, and documenting memos.
- Experience operationalizing accounting processes, driving efficiency, and implementing controls in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter with strong ownership, initiative, and ability to navigate ambiguity with minimal supervision.
- Outstanding analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to articulate complex concepts to senior leadership and non-finance teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
