Technical Program Manager - Release Management

Coordinates end-to-end releases across open-source and managed cloud products, establishing quality gates, automation, and risk controls. Requires 5+ years in technical program or release management, strong software lifecycle and DevOps knowledge, and cross-functional communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end release cadences for DataHub Core (OSS) and Managed Cloud.
  • Coordinate engineering, product, QA, DevOps, documentation, and customer success teams.
  • Define quality gates and Go/No-Go criteria for releases.
  • Design dashboards and runbooks to automate and streamline release processes.
  • Identify breaking changes and dependency conflicts before production deployment.
  • Serve as the central contact for release-related questions and updates.
  • Facilitate release retrospectives and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management or release management.
  • Experience managing complex software releases in fast-paced startup environments.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles, CI/CD practices, and DevOps principles.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand architecture, dependencies, and technical trade-offs.
  • Project management proficiency with Jira, Linear, or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with cross-time-zone and cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with open-source and enterprise software release models.
  • Experience with data platforms, metadata management, or data catalog platforms.
  • Experience managing releases for platforms with complex architectures.
  • GitHub workflows, release automation, and version management.
