Solutions Architect, Observe

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery for enterprise Observe engagements, assessing telemetry, infrastructure, data volumes, tooling, and operational requirements.
• Design scalable end-to-end observability architectures covering telemetry ingestion, pipeline topology, data modeling, enrichment, normalization, alerting, and retention.
• Define architecture blueprints and implementation approaches for Implementation Engineering teams.
• Validate configurations, pipelines, and data models against production-scale requirements.
• Advise customers on OpenTelemetry adoption and design migration strategies from Splunk, ELK, Datadog, Dynatrace, and New Relic.
• Produce reference architectures, design decision records, implementation plans, configuration standards, runbooks, and handoff artifacts.
• Support implementation teams with architectural decisions, blockers, scope changes, and go-live reviews.
• Identify architectural gaps, data-quality risks, and technical debt, designing scalable replacements where appropriate.
• Build and maintain production-grade demo infrastructure for pre-sales and implementation teams.
• Capture reusable field patterns and contribute insights to Product and Engineering.
• Serve as a technical authority on complex customer scenarios and mentor junior Implementation Engineers.
• Contribute to adjacent technology integrations, process re-engineering, and AI refactoring.

Requirements

• 8+ years in customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Architect, Staff/Principal Engineer, observability engineer, or SRE.
• Demonstrated progression from hands-on execution to architecture-level thinking.
• Deep expertise in observability platforms and large-scale telemetry systems, including logs, metrics, and traces.
• Strong hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, including instrumentation, Collector configuration, exporters, and multi-signal pipelines.
• Experience leading migrations from commercial observability platforms to modern alternatives.
• Ability to assess complex enterprise environments and create durable, scalable, practical architectures.
• Understanding of AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, containerized workloads, and Kubernetes.
• Strong communication skills with engineering teams and senior technical leadership.
• Experience producing architecture diagrams, design records, runbooks, and implementation plans.
• Exposure to AI-assisted observability or AIOps.

Nice to Have

• Background in SRE, platform engineering, or DevOps operating production observability at scale.
• Experience authoring internal standards, reference architectures, and enablement content.
• Experience building or maintaining demo or lab environments.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes-native observability and cloud-native monitoring.
• Experience working with professional services organizations.
• Experience working directly with Observe.

Compensation

• Annual salary range: $160,000–$210,000 USD.
