Forward Deployed Consultant- Supply Chain Solutions

Responsibilities

  • Embed at client headquarters and logistics hubs to map physical and digital processes, audit supply chain data, identify bottlenecks, and quantify ROI across freight, tariffs, and inventory.
  • Design, prototype, and scale mathematical supply chain models using Python, SQL, and proprietary tools, including mode mix planning, 3D origin bin-packing, container payload balancing, dynamic safety stock, and supplier consolidation.
  • Lead technical solution design across order and shipment management, transportation planning, data integration, workflow automation, and operational analytics.
  • Partner with Forward Deployed Engineers and core engineering teams to turn models into production workflows.
  • Develop client proposals and present ROI projections to executive stakeholders.
  • Work with frontline operations teams at ports, cross-docks, and client sites to validate models and ensure adoption.
  • Manage 90-day deployment workstreams, including roadmaps, data pipelines, risk management, delivery, and impact measurement.
  • Monitor financial and environmental impact, including demurrage savings and modal savings.
  • Identify logistics loss root causes, build reusable playbooks, and partner with product managers to productize field insights.

Requirements

  • BA/BS or higher in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Supply Chain, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in supply chain management or consulting, logistics engineering, freight forwarding, or product management.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Looker or Tableau.
  • Ability to build decision-support systems, reason about end-to-end physical dependencies, and work with imperfect enterprise data.
  • Experience managing workstreams from problem definition through prototyping, delivery, adoption, and impact measurement.
  • Strong interpersonal and executive communication skills, including the ability to explain complex workflows to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work on-site at ports, warehouses, and client logistics hubs; up to 50% travel required.
  • Self-starter mentality, comfort with ambiguity, problem-solving ability, and strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, Agile, Scrum, or Continuous Improvement certification or experience.
  • Expertise in global freight forwarding, customs compliance, TMS/WMS software, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Manhattan, or trade finance.
  • Experience in high-growth technology startups, management or supply chain consulting, or product management.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range: $120,000–$144,000 USD.
  • Additional rewards may include bonus, equity, medical and dental benefits, and flexible time off.
