Senior Identity Specialist - On-Premises

Responsibilities

Strategic Customer Engagement

• Lead technical discovery sessions with infrastructure and security leaders to uncover challenges related to aging web access management stacks such as CA Siteminder, PingAccess, and Oracle Access Manager.
• Deliver tailored demonstrations and architectural sessions focused on Okta Access Gateway and bridging legacy applications to modern identity.
• Design and execute proof-of-concepts securing header-based applications and complex on-premises ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS.
• Maintain broad and deep technical knowledge of Okta identity products, technologies, and protocols.
• Create solution content positioning Okta’s value across software engineering, operations, product management, and business stakeholders.

Asset Delivery

• Create and maintain reusable and purpose-built demonstration systems for presales teams.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams and documentation supporting identity patterns and strategies.
• Build templates for proofs-of-concept and customer engagement needs.
• Create and maintain AI-based delivery and enablement functionality.

Technical Leadership

• Provide strategic and technical guidance to Solutions Engineering teams across Okta identity platforms.
• Collaborate with the Global Office of Field CTO to deliver field insights, validate customer needs, and identify recurring trends for Product and Engineering teams.
• Deliver keynote presentations, webinars, and technical sessions at industry and customer events.

Field Enablement and Collaboration

• Contribute frameworks, tools, and content that help Solutions Engineering teams execute effectively.
• Partner with sales leadership to identify and address critical business opportunities and challenges.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration for global initiatives.
• Innovate in tools and techniques to drive excellence and momentum.
• Partner with Enablement and Field CTO teams on regional events and product messaging for go-to-market and Solutions Engineering teams.

Market Influence and Strategy

• Represent Okta as a thought leader in identity and security.
• Influence industry standards and participate in technical advisory boards.
• Advocate for customer-driven innovation, market trends, and go-to-market insights with product teams.
• Support and champion strategic initiatives that enhance Okta’s differentiation and business impact.

Requirements

Legacy WAM and Hybrid Identity

• Expert-level knowledge of legacy web access management tools, including CA Siteminder, Oracle Access Manager, and PingAccess.
• Proficiency managing identity synchronization and access between on-premises environments, Active Directory, LDAP, and the cloud.
• Mastery of Kerberos, header-based authentication, OIDC, and SAML.

Enterprise Application Integration

• Hands-on experience securing and integrating SAP, Oracle EBS, and PeopleSoft.
• Strong understanding of reverse proxies, load balancers, and Okta Access Gateway deployment models.
• Knowledge of SSL/TLS termination, certificate management, and on-premises network security.

Identity Threat Detection and Response

• Understanding of identity attack vectors including phishing, token theft, MFA bypass, and lateral movement.
• Strong understanding of IAM roles in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud and their contribution to the non-human identity attack surface.
• Experience integrating identity platforms with SIEM platforms such as Splunk and Sentinel, and SOAR tools for automated threat response.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience contributing to technical events.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% for customer meetings, industry events, and internal off-sites.

Nice to Have

• Python or PowerShell scripting and automation for gateway configurations or security integrations.
• Terraform or Pulumi for identity infrastructure as code.
• CIDPRO, CISSP, CCSP, or CISM certification.
