Staff Fullstack Engineer - Data Products
Builds GitLab’s in-product data insights and marketplace capabilities across ingestion, knowledge graphs, reporting, observability, and data access. The staff-level engineer provides technical direction, makes architectural decisions, coordinates across platform teams, and mentors engineers across SaaS and self-managed environments.

Responsibilities
- Architect ingestion, modeling, and synchronization of GitLab and third-party data into the Knowledge Graph.
- Coordinate integrations with Jira, observability tools, Zendesk, and ServiceNow.
- Design the Data Marketplace for customer access to GitLab data through Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery.
- Publish GitLab observability data as OpenTelemetry and support data-access APIs.
- Define operational readiness across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed deployments.
- Translate ambiguous product problems into technical plans and iterative roadmaps with Product, Design, and backend teams.
- Coordinate with Graph Backend, AI Platform, and Infrastructure teams.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and code review.
Requirements
- Experience owning product or platform systems end to end across multiple engineering and product teams at staff level.
- Strong fullstack technical skills with proficiency in Go, Ruby, and Node.
- Depth in reporting and metrics platforms, graph data systems, or data-access and warehouse integrations.
- Hands-on experience building production data ingestion, systems integrations, or data-access capabilities.
- Experience operating multi-tenant systems across SaaS and self-managed environments.
- Strong judgment in ambiguous situations, including making tradeoffs and creating clarity.
- Clear written communication, including architecture proposals and design records.
- A practical, proactive approach to collaboration.
