Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive virtual and on-site site surveys for restaurant POS installations.
- Validate wiring, electrical infrastructure, networking, Wi-Fi, and internet readiness.
- Perform advanced diagnostics such as traceroutes, port checks, speed, latency, and DNS testing.
- Document infrastructure gaps, risks, photos, diagrams, and survey outcomes.
- Provide technical guidance to clients and vendors and lead remediation follow-ups.
- Install and configure POS hardware, including workstations, printers, pin pads, cash drawers, switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Complete cabling, patching, connectivity setup, system updates, menu configuration, and reporting configuration.
- Deliver on-site training and live support for restaurant staff and management.
- Perform pre- and post-installation readiness checks and troubleshoot escalated technical issues.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Technicians, and Engineering to ensure successful installations.
- Mentor junior specialists and contribute to improvements in survey tools, templates, SOPs, and internal processes.
- Maintain high-quality work in accordance with SOPs, SLAs, checklists, and documented processes.
- Travel up to 50–75%, including local and out-of-state travel with overnight stays as needed.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of restaurant and/or technical support experience.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Demonstrated success in 50+ POS installations or comparable technical deployments.
- Deep understanding of low-voltage cabling, routers, switches, networking infrastructure, and Wi-Fi optimization.
- Experience with restaurant POS systems, multi-terminal deployments, and technology installations in restaurant, retail, or multi-location environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience conducting client-facing walkthroughs and training staff virtually or in person.
- Ability to manage complex, multi-site projects independently and mentor junior team members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CRM platforms, ticketing systems, and travel and expense management tools.
- Fluent written and verbal English.
- U.S. work authorization required; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
Nice-to-Haves
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Systems Administration, Engineering Technology, Business Administration, or Hospitality Management with strong technical acumen.
- Experience in fintech or SaaS environments.
Compensation and Benefits
- $20.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on location and experience.
