Key Responsibilities
- Own accounting engagement success end-to-end
- Drive the accounting portion of multiple concurrent engagements, from late-stage sales handoff through post-launch stabilization
- Roll off accounts once they are fully live and operating successfully on the platform
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and operational readiness across all accounting workflows
Lead accounting discovery, scoping, and decisioning
- Partner with senior accounting stakeholders (Controllers, CFOs, Finance teams) to understand current-state workflows and define future-state processes
- Drive critical implementation decisions, such as bank account onboarding strategy, vendor onboarding and payment workflows, chart of accounts structure and usage, transaction and charge code design
- Translate ambiguous accounting needs into clear system configurations and requirements
Own configuration and implementation
- Lead hands-on accounting setup, including chart of accounts (COA) configuration, vendor and entity setup, mapping of transactions and workflows
- Manage detailed back-and-forth with clients to gather, validate, and refine data inputs
- Ensure integrity and correctness of client-provided materials (e.g., validating GL structures, identifying inconsistencies, resolving gaps)
Drive migration and post-launch success
- Ensure full readiness for data migration and system cutover
- Lead post-launch activities, including reconciliations and validation of financial data, stabilization of accounting workflows in the new system, kickstarting close processes and operational rhythms
- Act as the primary owner of a clean, accurate transition into the platform
Enable adoption and training
- Run trainings, walkthroughs, and tailored demos for accounting teams
- Ensure end users are confident operating within the new system
- Identify and resolve adoption blockers early
Build scalable systems and playbooks
- Turn implementation learnings into repeatable processes, templates, and best practices
- Partner with Product and Engineering to surface gaps and improve accounting workflows
- Help define what “great” looks like for accounting implementations at scale
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, product management, and/or founder/operator roles at high-growth startups
- Background in accounting or finance (e.g., former Controller, Senior Accountant, accounting consultant, or accounting-focused operator), ideally in a high-growth or tech-enabled environment
- Experience managing complex, client-facing implementations or projects
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals (GL, reconciliations, close process, workflows)
- Comfortable getting into the weeds with data, configurations, and systems
- Excellent communicator who can build trust with senior finance stakeholders
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple concurrent engagements under tight timelines
- Autonomous, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in ambiguity
- Willingness to work in person at our office 4-5 days a week
Compensation
Salary range: $160,000 - $200,000, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.
