Customer Engineer
Leads technical discovery, architecture design, demonstrations, and proofs of concept while serving as a long-term technical advisor to enterprise customers. The role combines quota-carrying pre-sales with adoption, expansion, and AI-enabled workflow automation.

Responsibilities
- Technical validation: Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery, build bespoke architectures, and deliver product demonstrations and Proofs of Concept (PoCs) across security, networking, and developer platforms.
- Trusted advisory: Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle, from onboarding through maturity, renewal, and expansion.
- Strategic alignment: Own the long-term technical relationship and align customers’ evolving business goals with the product roadmap.
- Commercial accountability and expansion: Carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition and/or account growth. Drive platform adoption, retain revenue, identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities using product usage data, and lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) for C-level executives.
- AI orchestration and workflow automation: Leverage AI agents and internal platforms to automate RFP and security questionnaire responses, sandbox provisioning, and basic telemetry monitoring.
Requirements and desirable experience
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineering.
- Broad technical expertise in web security, networking, routing, DNS, DDoS mitigation, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise architecture.
- Experience operating in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment, with knowledge of SaaS metrics, business-value translation, and enterprise sales cycles.
- Exceptional presentation and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to bridge technical implementation details and C-suite business strategy.
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, or architecting solutions with Cloudflare’s developer platform and AI ecosystem, particularly Workers AI and AI Gateway.
- Experience with prompt engineering, large language model (LLM) orchestration, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages for integration scripts, API connectors, and edge-computing functions.
