Responsibilities

  • Own Convex marketing end to end, including positioning, launches, content, community, events, and brand.
  • Prioritize the two or three marketing motions that matter most and execute them deeply.
  • Work directly with the founders to refine their points of view into effective marketing.
  • Build and lead a small, high-performing marketing team over time while remaining hands-on.
  • Set a high quality bar focused on substantive, non-hype-driven marketing.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated marketing leadership at a technical or developer-facing company, with measurable results and a clear understanding of the underlying mechanics.
  • Genuine excellence in at least one discipline, such as product marketing, brand, content, or community.
  • Strong judgment to hire specialists who complement your strengths.
  • Experience working directly with founders, including the ability to push back constructively and execute well on sound founder convictions.
  • Comfort setting strategy and producing marketing work directly, including writing.
  • Understanding of developer audiences and the needs of technical, skeptical buyers.
  • Ability to prioritize ruthlessly across brand, demand generation, product marketing, community, and events.
  • Ability to communicate substance without relying on hype or buzzwords.
  • Constructive, positive, and energetic approach to startup work.
  • Interest in working in person at Convex's office in San Francisco.
