Responsibilities
- Own the storage team’s technical strategy and execution, driving projects from initial idea formulation and detailed system design through high-quality implementation and successful deployment.
- Provide deep technical oversight through design reviews, architecture discussions, and detailed examination of complex system implementations to ensure reliability and scalability.
- Serve as a key technical contributor and subject matter expert, setting engineering excellence and coding best practices.
- Mentor and coach engineers on complex technical challenges and career development.
- Grow a strong, diverse team through proactive hiring.
- Define team plans and deliverables while remaining accountable for platform availability, maintainability, and performance.
- Collaborate with Product Management to translate user needs and product requirements into technical roadmaps.
- Improve engineering processes, tooling, and standards to increase efficiency and velocity.
- Partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration and influence the broader platform’s direction.
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience designing and building large-scale production systems.
- 2+ years of experience managing and leading teams building lean, mission-critical, highly concurrent, high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- Experience building and managing high-throughput systems with Redis, Postgres, and blob stores such as S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Google Cloud Storage.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Strong hands-on skills, including the ability to investigate complex system design and implementation.
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related major, or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have
- Extensive development experience in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
