Learning & Development Specialist

Design and deliver evidence-based training and assessments for a distributed workforce producing human data for AI projects. The role requires 3–6 years of operational training experience, strong live facilitation, adult-learning expertise, and the ability to measure programmes against quality and throughput outcomes.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Translate client specifications and annotation guidelines into modular, sequenced training materials using worked examples, edge-case libraries, and annotated failure cases.
  • Apply learning-science principles, including cognitive-load management, scaffolding and fading, spaced retrieval, and criterion-referenced assessment.
  • Lead live remote training sessions for distributed cohorts during project ramps and adapt instruction based on learner needs.
  • Create readiness assessments with project-specific pass thresholds in partnership with the Quality Systems Lead.
  • Design accessible materials for novice learners, including people working in a second language and with varied educational backgrounds.
  • Build reusable curricula for medical imaging, document AI, LLM evaluation and red-teaming, robot teleoperation, and egocentric capture.
  • Coach Human Data Program Managers on teaching methods, feedback, session formats, and instructional standards.
  • Observe annotators performing tasks, identify sources of difficulty, and redesign training accordingly.
  • Partner with Product to determine which guidance should be embedded in the platform at the point of work.
  • Measure programmes against quality, throughput, ramp time, and qualification outcomes; retire programmes that do not improve operational metrics.

Requirements

  • Formal grounding in education, learning science, or instructional design through a degree, postgraduate qualification, teaching qualification, or equivalent professional training.
  • 3–6 years of professional experience designing and delivering training in an operational environment measured against production outcomes.
  • Demonstrated live facilitation for adult learners remotely and at cohort scale.
  • Experience building curriculum and assessments from scratch, including assessments that distinguish competent from non-competent learners.
  • Experience teaching non-specialist adults across languages, geographies, and levels of prior education.
  • Multi-format authoring experience across written documentation, video, and interactive assessment.
  • Fluency sufficient to evaluate training programmes using quality and throughput data.
  • Clear writing and strong cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to work from technical specifications and identify contradictory guidelines.
  • Execution-oriented, entrepreneurial approach suited to establishing a first dedicated learning function.

Nice-to-haves

  • Classroom or vocational teaching experience.
  • Language-teaching qualification such as CELTA or equivalent.
  • Experience working with teams in India or comparable delivery geographies.
  • Familiarity with annotation, evaluation, or model-training workflows.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary, commission, and equity.
  • 25 days annual leave plus UK public holidays.
  • Annual learning and development budget.
  • Travel opportunities for customer visits, events, and conferences across the UK and Europe.
  • Company lunches twice a week.
  • Monthly socials and bi-annual team offsites.
