Founding Head of Marketing

Build Office Hours’ marketing function from the ground up, owning positioning, product marketing, content, founder amplification, field marketing, and events. The role requires 10+ years of experience, early-stage company-building experience, strong B2B product marketing expertise, exceptional writing, and comfort operating hands-on in ambiguity.

Responsibilities

  • Own positioning, product marketing, messaging, segmentation, competitive strategy, and enablement.
  • Develop foundational marketing and sales assets, including sales decks, ICP-specific one-pagers, pricing collateral, category overviews, and website content.
  • Build and run a content engine spanning case studies, point-of-view pieces, white papers, reports, newsletters, expert insights, proprietary data, frameworks, and events.
  • Amplify the founder and CEO through LinkedIn, social content, ghostwriting, editing, and future earned and paid channels.
  • Own field marketing and events, including audience strategy, invitations, execution, and follow-up.
  • Build the marketing function from the ground up; eventually hire and lead marketers, creatives, agencies, and contractors.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of marketing experience, including experience as an early marketer at an early-stage company.
  • Experience building a marketing function from the ground up.
  • Deep product marketing expertise, including positioning, messaging, segmentation, competitive strategy, and enablement.
  • Experience in a B2B sales environment and partnering with Sales and Customer Success.
  • Exceptional writing skills across buyer messaging, thought leadership, executive content, and social media.
  • AI-forward approach to improving marketing quality and output.
  • Builder’s mindset with ownership from strategy through execution.
  • Comfort with speed, ambiguity, iteration, and shifting priorities.
  • Strong judgment, taste, and ability to create alignment across teams.

Bonus Experience

  • Shaping an executive or founder voice.
  • Brand strategy and visual identity.
  • Marketing to institutional investors, consulting firms, AI labs, or similar enterprise audiences.
  • Experience with a two-sided marketplace or expert network.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of $180-$220k, based on seniority and relevant experience.
  • Additional target 15-20% discretionary bonus.
