Software Development Engineer II - Backend

Build scalable, multi-tenant commerce and payments services covering subscriptions, payment orchestration, invoicing, tax, and ledgers. Requires at least 2 years of software development experience plus strong distributed-systems, Kubernetes, GCP, event-driven architecture, and testing expertise.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship multi-tenant services for checkout, subscriptions, payment orchestration, invoicing, and tax hooks.
  • Integrate payment service providers and local payment methods, including UPI, wallets, BNPL, and cards/3DS, with resilient webhooks and idempotent APIs.
  • Implement an append-only, double-entry ledger; use event sourcing and CQRS where they improve scale and correctness.
  • Write production-grade code with deep test coverage and OpenTelemetry instrumentation.
  • Operate services on GKE with CI/CD, autoscaling, SLIs/SLOs, and on-call ownership.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience with Postgres, Valkey, and event-driven systems such as Kafka or Pub/Sub.
  • Strong distributed-systems fundamentals, including idempotency, retries, ordering, concurrency, and consistency.
  • Strong multi-tenant systems fundamentals, including tenant isolation, per-tenant data and quota boundaries, and noisy-neighbor containment.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform; familiarity with secrets management, KMS, and PCI basics.
  • Deep testing discipline across unit, integration, contract, and performance testing.
  • Experience with schema design for scale and backward compatibility.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.

Technical Stack

  • Backend: Go, ConnectRPC, Buf
  • Databases: Postgres, AlloyDB, ClickHouse
  • Cloud and infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform, GKE, Pub/Sub, Valkey, OpenTelemetry
