Senior Data Analyst, People

The Senior Data Analyst will build People analytics models, metrics, dashboards, and decision frameworks across the employee lifecycle. The role requires 5+ years of analytical experience, advanced SQL and data modeling, strong business intelligence skills, and excellent stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own core People metrics covering headcount, hiring, retention, organizational health, employee experience, and talent development.
  • Build canonical datasets, analytical models, self-service tools, and dashboards for People teams and leaders.
  • Translate analyses into clear narratives and recommendations for operators and executive leaders.
  • Partner with Engineers to improve HRIS and ATS connectors.
  • Establish practices for data quality, governance, privacy, appropriate access, and responsible use of sensitive employee data.
  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable recommendations.
  • Mentor analysts and partners and strengthen analytical best practices and data fluency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics, data science, business intelligence, or a related analytical role.
  • Advanced SQL and data modeling proficiency across large, complex datasets.
  • Experience with Looker, Tableau, Sigma, or similar business intelligence and visualization tools.
  • Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, communication, and data storytelling skills.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous business questions into structured analyses and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience owning analytical problems end-to-end and building scalable frameworks, datasets, and tools.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Experience using analytics to support business decisions, preferably in a high-growth, SaaS, or B2B product company.

Nice-to-haves

  • People Analytics, workforce analytics, recruiting analytics, or HR strategy experience.
  • Familiarity with HRIS, ATS, performance management, engagement, or learning systems.

  • Oakland pay range: $156,082–$195,102.50 USD.
