Founding Customer Engineer
Owns post-sales technical implementations for enterprise customers, from integration design and production readiness through fleet-scale synchronization and escalations. The role requires Fortune 500 implementation experience, data-engineering fundamentals, and the ability to establish repeatable go-live standards.
About the job
Responsibilities
Own the Technical Path to Production Readiness
- Own technical solutioning and integration design for enterprise accounts, including delivery mode, data environment, and known dependencies.
- Define and document go-live criteria across technical readiness, data-quality validation, security and compliance sign-off, and customer-side readiness.
- Publish the readiness checklist at kickoff.
- Track time-to-readiness milestones, vehicle-count matching, backfill verification, and latency against SLA.
Enablement and Technical Scaling
- Train customer technical teams on the dashboard, common-issue runbooks, and escalation paths.
- Scale customers from their first production fleet to full fleet syncing.
- Monitor sync health, latency, and API error rates in PostHog, acting on threshold alerts proactively.
- Own technical escalations end to end and involve Sales Engineering when escalation thresholds are met.
- Track active-vehicle coverage, incident resolution within SLA, and elimination of recurring issues.
Build the Founding Customer Engineer Playbook
- Co-author the production-readiness Definition of Done, kickoff technical playbook, and common-issues repository.
- Document recurring issue patterns and feed structural fixes back to Engineering.
- Improve repeatability and reduce time to readiness as the playbook matures.
Requirements
- Experience delivering technical implementations for Fortune 500 customers in a post-sales context.
- Ownership of enterprise go-lives from end to end.
- Understanding of data-engineering fundamentals, including APIs, data pipelines, warehouse replication, data completeness, and latency.
- Experience driving security and data-governance reviews through resolution.
- Ability to communicate technical realities to executives and translate customer requirements into actionable engineering scope.
- High-urgency, high-accountability approach to escalations and dated readiness plans.
- Comfort reading and writing TypeScript against APIs and data pipelines, designing durable integrations as schemas and volumes grow, and guiding customers on ingestion, synchronization, webhooks, and queryable vehicle data.
Nice to Have
- Experience in telematics, fleet, insurance, or logistics.
- Strong data-engineering background.
- Experience building or operating production-readiness or go-live standards that withstand Fortune 500 security reviews.
- Experience at Snowflake, Databricks, Twilio, Stripe, or a similar company.
