Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Build and scale Rust backend services for a cybersecurity product integrating with cloud platforms, databases, and enterprise systems. The role requires 8+ years of backend engineering experience, strong Rust, C++, or Go skills, and ownership across design, delivery, deployment, and production support.

Responsibilities

Own backend features from product requirements through design, implementation, testing, deployment, production support, and ongoing support.
Design and build backend services in Rust, including REST APIs, data models, database schemas, and service-to-service integrations.
Build integrations with cloud and enterprise platforms by researching APIs, SDKs, services, and technologies.
Own technical designs addressing architecture, scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
Identify and resolve production performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and architectural limitations.
Take features through unit and integration testing, CI/CD, deployment, validation, performance testing, and production readiness.
Debug complex production issues across application, integration, database, and infrastructure layers.
Partner with Product and Engineering to refine requirements and evaluate technical trade-offs.
Support customers and internal teams with complex technical issues.
Collaborate with a globally distributed engineering team through design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions.

Requirements

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant backend development.
Strong hands-on programming experience in Rust, C++, or Go; production Rust experience is preferred.
Experience building production backend services and microservices.
Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, API contracts, integrations, and service-to-service communication.
Experience designing database schemas and data models and working with application data-access layers.
Experience building or integrating third-party APIs, SDKs, cloud services, or enterprise platforms.
Ability to research unfamiliar technologies and turn ambiguous requirements into practical technical designs and implementation plans.
Experience diagnosing performance and scalability problems in production backend systems.
Experience debugging complex issues across multiple components or services.
Experience owning software through the full development lifecycle.
Ability to work effectively with Product Management and distributed engineering teams.
