Build and evolve Hospitable’s core and growth platform in Laravel and PHP, delivering customer-focused features, reliable production systems, and maintainable code. Responsibilities
- Develop new features, maintain existing functionality, and build product workflows across the core platform and growth product.
- Shape product direction, launch core platform features from 0 to 1, and iterate based on customer feedback.
- Build simple, intuitive user experiences and maintainable code in a large monolithic codebase.
- Partner with product, sales, customer success, and engineering teams to ship customer-focused solutions.
- Work with Kubernetes-powered infrastructure-as-code systems.
- Implement and use observability tooling to monitor and debug production systems.
- Identify and resolve high-impact performance, resource, and feature issues.
- Refactor core platform code to improve clarity, maintainability, and testability.
- Review and understand AI-generated code before it reaches production.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, focused on backend technologies.
- Significant production experience with Laravel, PHP 7+, MySQL, and testing pipelines in deployed web applications.
- Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot in a production codebase.
- Ability to write testable, maintainable, and intuitive code while prioritizing customer and business value.
- Ability to reason through complex systems, non-obvious usage scenarios, and downstream effects.
- Strong empathy for customers and teammates.
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable making decisions amid uncertainty.
- Ability to work under European or American time zones, up to the US East Coast.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with queue- or job-centric backends.
- Experience building production systems that depend on critical data ingestion from third-party APIs.
Compensation and Benefits
- Total budget: USD $134,450–$167,258.30, depending on location cost of living.
- For US employees: gross compensation of USD $123,993.09–$154,249.72.
- Company equity options through the $HOST token, with a grant value of up to USD $76,026.50.
- Eligibility for up to USD $380,895.00 annually in performance share units, tied to defined business targets.
