Staff Engineer
The Staff Engineer will provide technical leadership and build core components of a scalable platform for deploying AI applications. The role requires 8+ years of distributed-systems or foundational cloud-services experience, strong software engineering fundamentals, and expertise in high-scale, concurrent systems.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction, direct architecture, and implement core parts of a platform that enables customers to build AI applications using MongoDB.
- Provide technical leadership for technologies enabling deployment of AI applications at scale.
- Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of distributed-systems infrastructure.
- Work with research, product management, product engineering, product design, and other teams to define the service’s first version and future evolution.
- Design, build, and deliver well-tested core platform components.
- Shape architecture, code reviews, development practices, and developer experience as the product and teams grow.
- Mentor fellow engineers and own project delivery and accountability.
- Identify problems, implement solutions, and deliver complex distributed-systems projects.
- Lead projects involving distributed-systems infrastructure from conception through successful delivery.
- Enable teams to deliver products through technical leadership and contributions.
Requirements
- Strong background building core components for high-scale compute and distributed data systems.
- 8+ years of experience building distributed systems and/or foundational cloud services at scale.
- Interest in working with Python, Go, and Java.
- Proven ability to design, write, test, debug, and performance-tune distributed or highly concurrent software.
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals.
- Experience maintaining distributed and/or highly concurrent software in large, long-lived codebases.
- Experience leading projects involving distributed-systems infrastructure.
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
Nice to Have
- Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Experience with AI frameworks and tools.
