Staff Developer Advocate - Leadership

Leads technical storytelling and executive advocacy programs for Datadog, partnering with product and engineering leaders and representing the company at events. Requires substantial senior technical leadership experience, software development or SRE expertise, and a strong public content portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key technical storyteller for senior technical executive audiences.
  • Lead the strategy and execution of first-party technical event content programs, including DASH and Datadog Summits.
  • Define and drive executive-level advocacy programs for CTOs, VPs of Engineering, and technical architects.
  • Represent Datadog’s perspective at events and conferences for technical leaders.
  • Partner with and coach product and engineering leaders on public communication and presentations.
  • Represent leadership perspectives on Datadog solutions, engineering culture, and industry trends.
  • Partner with event organizers and curate compelling content for attendees.
  • Create demos, talks, blog posts, documentation, webinars, open-source contributions, research reports, and other content related to DevOps, observability, and security.
  • Provide product feedback, including bug reports and enhancement suggestions.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5+ years of experience as a software developer, SRE, or other technical practitioner.
  • Approximately 8+ years of experience in senior technical leadership, such as Principal Engineer, VP/Director, or Staff Developer Advocate, including setting technical direction and influencing product direction.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience creating technical stories and content through writing, conference talks, workshops, livestreams, videos, open source, or community events.
  • Publicly available technical writing samples, blog posts, demos, or presentation recordings.
  • Experience coaching others to speak publicly and deliver compelling subject-matter talks, especially for technical executive audiences.
  • Experience working on or organizing technical conferences or events.
  • Interest in independently exploring and learning new technologies and programming languages.

  • Experience working with regional teams to localize technical content and stories.
  • Multilingual ability.

Compensation and Benefits
