Senior Dealer Relationship Manager

Manages remote launches, adoption, engagement, and performance for a portfolio of dealer partners, using account data and targeted outreach to improve utilization. Requires 3+ years in relationship management, account management, customer success, automotive retail, auto finance, or a related customer-facing field.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Own the launch, ongoing relationship, engagement, and performance of an assigned portfolio of lower-volume, rural, and geographically dispersed dealer partners.
  • Lead remote dealer launches from handoff through readiness, training, activation, and early adoption, coordinating system access, workflow alignment, third-party setup, and dealer-readiness requirements.
  • Help dealership leadership and frontline users understand Upstart’s role in their lending strategy and establish adoption plans within sales and finance workflows.
  • Use dealer activity and performance data—including user engagement, credit applications, offers, signed contracts, and funded loans—to identify growth opportunities, declining utilization, and accounts needing support.
  • Develop engagement strategies through targeted email and phone outreach, virtual business reviews, automated reporting, and account plans with clear follow-up actions.
  • Partner with Sales, Risk, Product, and Operations to resolve dealer barriers, escalate recurring issues, maintain account documentation, and improve the remote dealer-management model.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in dealer relationship management, account management, customer success, dealer development, automotive retail, auto finance, indirect lending, or a related customer-facing role.
  • Experience launching, onboarding, implementing, or activating customer or dealer partnerships.
  • Experience managing an account portfolio and using CRM systems, dashboards, spreadsheets, or reporting tools to monitor activity and performance.
  • Experience using customer or account data to identify risks, prioritize outreach, and develop adoption, growth, or recovery plans.
  • Experience leading customer training, onboarding, performance reviews, or strategic meetings remotely.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of dealership sales and finance operations, indirect auto lending, lender strategy, and dealer account management.
  • Ability to guide dealership leadership, finance managers, and frontline users through lender adoption and workflow changes.
  • Ability to interpret dealer performance, application, lender-activity, and utilization data.
  • Experience with automated reporting, email campaigns, portfolio alerts, or customer-engagement workflows.
  • Experience supporting rural, lower-volume, small-market, or geographically dispersed dealer partners and re-engaging underperforming accounts.
  • Familiarity with RouteOne, Dealertrack, dealership CRM systems, credit-reporting providers, or similar automotive technology.

Compensation

  • Anticipated base salary: $99,800–$138,000 USD.
  • Target bonuses, equity compensation, and benefits are also provided.
