Staff Software Engineer, Backend
Build and operate secure, multi-tenant backend services and APIs that power AI-driven legal products. The role requires 12+ years of backend experience, strong Python and modern web framework expertise, relational database experience, cloud infrastructure knowledge, and production operations skills.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product to prioritize customer-focused work and deliver reliable features quickly.
- Design and own backend services and APIs powering web applications, workflows, and integrations.
- Model and manage data in Postgres and related data stores for low-latency, reliable user experiences.
- Build secure, multi-tenant, permissions-aware systems with auditing for enterprise and government customers.
- Implement backend features and workflows using LLMs and agentic tools.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and design partners to define API contracts and ship features end-to-end.
- Add logging, metrics, and tracing to make services observable and debuggable.
- Improve performance and scalability by profiling bottlenecks, tuning queries, and refining service boundaries.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 12+ years of backend engineering experience building and operating production web applications or SaaS products.
- Experience building fast-growing SaaS products using PWA technologies.
- Track record of shipping intuitive products with strong attention to detail.
- Strong Python programming skills and experience with a modern web framework such as FastAPI or Flask.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases such as Postgres.
- Understanding of API design, authentication and authorization, background job patterns, and robust error handling.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience operating production services using logs, metrics, dashboards, and alerts, including on-call participation.
- Must be authorized to work in India; visa sponsorship is not available.
