Senior Forward Deployed Engineer
Build and deliver scalable Cloudflare-based solutions with strategic customers through architecture, hands-on development, code review, and technical problem-solving. The role requires 7+ years of software engineering experience, production ownership, broad full-stack expertise, and strong cloud architecture skills.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a hands-on technical build partner for strategic customers building on the Cloudflare platform, guiding engagements from idea to launch.
- Design scalable, resilient architectures and advise on key technical decisions.
- Prototype, configure, and build reference implementations alongside customer engineering teams.
- Review customer code and promote best practices for quality, performance, and security.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across the stack.
- Write reusable reference code, samples, and technical guidance.
- Support Cloudflare services including Workers, KV, R2, D1, Durable Objects, Workers AI, AI Gateway, Vectorize, security, networking, and observability.
- Participate in design reviews, planning sessions, and technical working sessions.
- Share product gaps and customer insights with Product and Engineering teams.
- Build trusted relationships with customer engineers and technical leaders.
- Identify opportunities to accelerate adoption of Cloudflare services.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience delivering production-grade systems and owning mission-critical services.
- Understanding of on-call operations, incident response, and high-availability architecture.
- Current hands-on development experience and a ship-first approach.
- Broad full-stack architectural knowledge spanning frontend performance, backend logic, databases, and distributed infrastructure.
- Experience integrating AI-augmented development workflows.
- Ability to translate complex requirements into scalable, resilient architectures.
- Deep experience with at least one major cloud provider, including serverless, networking, and security primitives.
- Self-directed approach and ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Comfortable engaging VP-level stakeholders and communicating technical trade-offs in terms of business impact.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building with Cloudflare Workers or the Cloudflare Developer Platform.
- Startup experience or prior customer-facing engineering experience working directly in a partner’s codebase.
- Open-source contributions, technical blogging, or industry conference speaking experience.
