Responsibilities
- Advise customers and solve complex MongoDB problems across database servers, drivers, cloud, and infrastructure.
- Resolve customer challenges involving architecture, performance, recovery, security, availability, and scalability.
- Provide best-practice guidance for running MongoDB at scale.
- Advocate for customer needs by interfacing with product management and development teams.
- Contribute to internal software development projects for support tools, performance analysis, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
- Analyze issues holistically across application, database, and storage tiers.
- Support and troubleshoot large-scale production environments and cloud resources.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience.
- Systems engineering experience with Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of Kubernetes concepts, including containers, namespaces, custom resources, and multi-cluster deployments.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
- Storage engineering experience with NAS, SAN, SSD, multipathing, and caching.
- Experience building and maintaining complex, mission-critical production database systems.
- Ability to read code and perform basic coding or scripting in one or more languages, such as Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, or Go.
- Strong problem-solving and customer service skills, including the ability to remain calm while resolving issues in real time.
- Ability and willingness to learn new technical skills and collaborate with teammates.
Nice to Have
- Experience managing large-scale relational or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with LDAP, Kerberos, or Active Directory authentication systems.
- MongoDB experience.
- Git or other distributed version control systems.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with virtualization, Docker, or Kubernetes CLI and resource/container inspection utilities.
- Experience administering hardware, operating systems, networks, firewalls, load balancers, and cloud-based resources.
