Responsibilities
- Hire great engineers and build an outstanding team.
- Support engineers in their career development through clear feedback and development of engineering leaders.
- Establish high technical standards through architecture reviews, testing, and an engineering-excellence culture.
- Work with engineering and product leadership to build a long-term roadmap.
- Coordinate execution and collaborate across teams to unblock cross-cutting projects.
- Build infrastructure and products for the Databricks platform at scale, including:
- Resource-management infrastructure for big data and machine-learning workloads in a scalable, secure, and cloud-agnostic way.
- Reliable, scalable services and client libraries for massive amounts of cloud data across geographic regions and cloud providers.
- Tools that enable engineers to operate services across different clouds and environments.
- Services, products, and infrastructure at the intersection of machine learning and distributed systems.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to hire and develop talent, especially engineering leadership.
- Ability to create efficient processes that increase velocity and quality.
- Experience managing teams that build and operate high-volume distributed systems in a SaaS environment.
- Experience scaling engineering teams from 5 to 30+ engineers.
- Strong collaboration skills with other departments.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
