Leads the engineering team and cross-organizational initiatives responsible for secure, consistent Unity Catalog runtime enforcement across Databricks compute engines and clouds. The role requires extensive distributed-systems experience, security expertise, operational maturity, and technical leadership.

Responsibilities
- Lead and grow an engineering team delivering runtime enforcement outcomes in a high-severity, cross-organizational domain; establish scope, SLAs, and phased roadmaps.
- Establish a single source of truth for scope, operating model, and durable enforcement mechanisms.
- Lead multi-year, multi-team initiatives shaping how Unity Catalog is enforced at runtime across compute types and engines.
- Introduce tools to increase automation and service operability.
- Use deep experience to help prevent and investigate production issues.
- Plan and lead complex technical projects involving multiple teams.
- Serve as a technical team lead by mentoring others, leading sprint planning, delegating assignments, and participating in project planning.
Requirements
- 15+ years of industry experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
- Comfort working toward a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables.
- Extensive experience building and maintaining distributed systems.
- Security-first mindset.
- Cross-organizational leadership in ambiguous, incident-heavy environments, with disciplined rollout and operational maturity.
- Motivation to deliver customer value and impact.
- Experience driving company initiatives toward customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor's, master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
