Responsibilities
- Set technical direction across the engineering organization.
- Own the most critical and ambiguous technical problems across teams and organizational boundaries.
- Make and oversee multi-year architectural decisions for the product and platform.
- Define technical strategy for Apollo’s AI and agent-focused product rebuild.
- Establish engineering standards, patterns, and decisions that raise the technical bar.
- Multiply the impact of senior engineers through design, review, and mentorship.
- Partner with engineering and product leadership on technology direction.
- Define AI-native engineering practices and identify opportunities for AI to reshape product development.
Requirements
- Track record of setting technical direction across an entire engineering organization.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems and software architecture.
- Strong understanding of reliability, scalability, and cost tradeoffs.
- Excellent judgment in ambiguous, high-stakes situations and ability to align multiple teams.
- Record of developing and multiplying the impact of senior engineers.
- Current fluency with AI-assisted software development.
