Staff Software Engineer, Video Enablement
Lead the new Video Engineering team as a hands-on architect building scalable live and on-demand video pipelines for youth sports streaming. Requires deep expertise in video codecs, streaming protocols, cloud infrastructure, and full-stack development across mobile, backend, and frontend.

What You’ll Do
- Design, architect, code, and support video features across the video pipeline stack, including live video ingestion, transcoding, integration, storage, and playback/consumption at scale.
- Influence, communicate, and iterate on the strategic roadmap for video technology as the platform scales and adds capabilities.
- Collaborate with mobile, web, machine learning/computer vision, and platform teams on projects across the video processing system.
- Review designs and code PRs, pair on architectures, provide guidance and hands-on help.
- Build and connect internal SDKs, frameworks, and tooling to enable product teams to integrate video easily.
- Define and build real-time monitoring and measurement systems for video pipeline workflows, including on-call tools.
- Support video workflows through an occasional on-call rotation (few days per month).
- Lead, mentor, interview, and onboard other software engineers in video and live-streaming.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong background in video and audio streaming, with focus on live-streaming of user-generated content.
- Extensive experience architecting and building scalable, high-performance video pipelines in cloud environments (AWS or similar).
- Strong understanding of audio/video packaging, codecs, and technologies including MPEG Video, MPEG-2 TS, HLS, DASH, H.264 AVC/H.265 HEVC/VP9/AV1/VVC, RTMP/enhanced RTMP/SRT, FFMPEG, DRM.
- Hands-on experience designing and building live and VOD streaming workflows, covering mobile broadcast, ingest, transcoding, storage, playback at scale.
- Proficiency in languages used in video space such as C#/Golang/C++/Rust/Python, plus higher-level languages like Node/TypeScript, React, or mobile languages (Kotlin, Swift).
- Experience designing/building/connecting internal APIs/SDKs across the stack.
- Experience mentoring teams through documentation and sessions on utilizing the video system.
- Familiarity with mobile video broadcasting of user-generated content and optimizing quality/reliability across devices and networks.
- Hands-on experience with one or more video players.
- Front end development experience in web, iOS (Swift), and/or Android (Kotlin); willingness to learn unfamiliar front-end areas is a plus.
- Familiarity with CV concepts, architectures, or tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with video advertising systems is a plus.
