Contract Student Worker - Forward Deployed Automation Engineer

Responsibilities
Application and Tool Development
- Design and deploy internal mobile-first web applications for field-operator vehicle dispatch, routing, and end-of-shift reporting.
- Build responsive interfaces for real-time fleet monitoring with sub-second tracking of vehicle states and locations.
- Develop diagnostic tools that translate vehicle telemetry and hardware sensor data into readable formats for operations staff.
Workflow Automation
- Architect automated ticketing systems for maintenance requests, incident reporting, and vehicle recovery dispatches.
- Integrate AI-driven workflows to parse operational logs, identify recurring hardware or software faults, and flag high-priority issues for engineering teams.
- Develop compliance trackers that cross-reference fleet operating zones with municipal regulations to prevent routing violations.
Data Analytics and Dashboarding
- Construct live dashboards for fleet health, downtime, and operator-efficiency metrics.
- Optimize queries across NoSQL and SQL databases for rapid retrieval of historical fleet data.
- Analyze vehicle-performance data and provide recommendations to improve fleet utilization and reduce idle time.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with L3 hardware and software engineering teams to ensure operational tools reflect autonomous-system capabilities and constraints.
- Gather feedback from fleet operators to iterate on the UX/UI of internal tools.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a relevant B.S. or M.S. program.
- Available for a minimum three-month assignment.
- Available to work 40 hours per week.
- Able to work onsite at a Zoox office location.
- Adhere to confidentiality requirements, including restrictions on using proprietary information in academic research, theses, publications, or presentations.
