Integration Reliability Engineer, Payments
Build and scale payment-partner integrations, operational tooling, and reliability processes while investigating money-movement issues. The role combines coding, technical problem-solving, project coordination, and collaboration with engineering, finance, product, and external financial partners.

Responsibilities
- Become a domain expert in an area of Stripe’s payments stack.
- Find automated solutions and implement tool updates to drive operational efficiencies.
- Engage with financial partners to align on product usage, troubleshoot issues, and solve technical problems or breakages.
- Organize and direct complex technical changes and projects between Stripe and financial partners.
- Identify and automate inefficient or unnecessary manual processes through code changes, partner agreements, or coordinated changes across Stripe.
- Design anomaly detection systems and tools to ensure data flowing through partner and internal systems is reliable and correct.
- Collaborate with engineering, accounting, financial partnerships, and product teams to trace and account for money moving through the Stripe platform.
- Handle inquiries from internal teams and external partners’ technical teams, including detailed investigation and occasional code changes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a technical role, such as Technical Operations or Software Engineering.
- Experience managing communications and workflows with technical and non-technical internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to write high-quality code.
- Comfort using SQL to navigate data and diagnose the scope and urgency of issues.
- Ability to build operational processing and tooling from scratch to prevent repeatable issues.
- Comfort with developer tools such as Git and the ability to make well-scoped code changes in a codebase.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand technical systems through code, documentation, partner specifications, debugging programs, logs, domain experts, and raw data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with payment technologies and ecosystems.
- Experience managing communications and workflows with external financial partners and vendors.
