Senior Staff Software Engineer - Network Platform
Leads the architecture and development of large-scale, multi-cloud networking connectivity and observability platforms that support Databricks’ control and compute planes. The role requires deep distributed-systems expertise, extensive production experience in a major programming language, and technical leadership across teams.

Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision and architecture for next-generation network connectivity and observability services managing millions of VMs across multiple clouds.
- Design and own large-scale connectivity platforms connecting the control plane and compute plane.
- Improve the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of compute infrastructure.
- Enable intelligent and cost-effective use of cloud resources.
- Set technical direction at an organization-wide level.
- Lead complex, cross-team initiatives and influence architecture and execution across teams.
- Mentor senior engineers.
- Collaborate with product management, operations, and partner engineering teams to translate business goals into durable, extensible networking systems.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership in ambiguous, large-scale distributed systems problem spaces.
Requirements
- 15+ years of production-level experience in Rust, Java, Scala, C++, or a similar language.
- 10+ years of experience developing large-scale distributed systems from scratch.
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or with service-oriented architectures.
- Experience with cloud networking.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience with infrastructure automation languages and tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
