Own technical customer evaluations and sales engineering for Exa’s API in the EMEA region, designing integrations, demos, and proofs of concept for AI use cases. Responsibilities
- Own the technical side of the sales cycle, including discovery, solution design, demos, POCs/POVs, and technical objection handling in partnership with an Account Executive.
- Identify expansion opportunities in existing accounts and turn them into technical evaluations.
- Build tailored working demos and prototypes on Exa’s API for agents, research, search, and enrichment use cases.
- Translate product capabilities into compelling use-case narratives for CTOs, engineers, and product managers.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor on Exa’s product, API, and customer problems; answer technical questions, run rigorous evaluations, and involve engineering when needed.
- Feed patterns from customer evaluations back to product and engineering.
- Create reusable demos, integration patterns, and regional playbooks; represent Exa at workshops, meetups, and conferences.
- Support early customers through onboarding and initial implementation.
Requirements
- 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role, such as solutions or sales engineering, solutions architecture, engineering with substantial customer exposure, developer relations, or technical consulting.
- Strong technical knowledge of APIs and modern development, including the ability to design integrations, build working demos, and debug live.
- Python or TypeScript experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize across multiple evaluations, and work in an early-stage environment.
- Familiarity with LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agents, and customer AI evaluation practices.
- Based in the region and willing to travel for customer engagements.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience owning technical evaluations at a developer-platform or API-first company.
- Experience leading engineers and moving into a customer-facing role, or working as a hands-on sales engineer.
- Hands-on projects involving LLMs.
- Experience running enterprise evaluations end-to-end, including POC success criteria, security questionnaires, and RFP responses.
- Additional regional language skills.
