Staff Software Engineer - Backend

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Management, Engineering Directors, and Principal Architects to translate strategic objectives into scalable technical roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to deliver critical engineering initiatives.
• Lead the design and implementation of features and services within the core Java platform, from conception through deployment.
• Define engineering best practices and contribute to technical designs, proposals, and long-term architecture decisions.
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers, guide technical design reviews, and raise engineering standards across the organization.
• Develop maintainable software with comprehensive test coverage and improve testing and CI/CD strategies.
• Create technical documentation and foster knowledge sharing.
• Use AI coding assistants to accelerate delivery while maintaining security and code quality.
• Identify emerging trends and prototype solutions related to device security and AI-native development.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive software development experience.
• Experience designing and building scalable, high-performance server-side features using Java and Spring.
• Expertise with high-performance PostgreSQL or MySQL environments, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs for large-scale systems.
• Knowledge of caching, asynchronous processing, and multithreading.
• Understanding of design patterns, scalability patterns, security engineering, and object-oriented principles.
• Experience in agile environments with CI/CD and automated testing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction.
• Understanding of endpoint security concepts, including Trusted Platform Modules (TPM), Secure Enclave, device management/MDM protocols, and endpoint detection.
• Conceptual understanding of how iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS security features report state to the cloud.
• Proficiency with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building anomaly detection or risk systems.
• Experience with cloud security, identity, and authentication protocols.
• Understanding of FIDO, U2F, WebAuthn, SSO, SAML, OAuth, and federation.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices.
• CISSP or Security+ certification.
• Experience with ReactJS.
• Exposure to gRPC API development.
• Exposure to microservice architecture.
