Leads and develops a payroll operations team, overseeing US payroll delivery, KPIs, escalations, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and product teams. Requires 5+ years of US payroll experience and 2+ years managing payroll personnel.

Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team of payroll operations specialists to deliver payroll on time and meet business and customer expectations.
- Hire and train new team members to support market expansion and scaling operations.
- Drive team performance against operational KPIs.
- Monitor and report team progress to ensure requirements, KPIs, and deadlines are met.
- Facilitate training and development initiatives.
- Develop scalable, repeatable processes that reduce manual errors and are easy to learn, expand, and measure.
- Support issue resolution by coordinating with government agencies, partners, and customers.
- Drive automation and process improvements.
- Partner with US Payroll Engineering and Product teams to ensure payroll software supports payroll and tax compliance requirements, product issues are addressed quickly, and internal tooling requirements are prioritized and implemented.
Requirements

- Experience managing an escalation desk.
- Strong experience with Google Suite or Microsoft Office, particularly Docs, Sheets, and Excel, for data analysis and task organization.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in US payroll processing.
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing payroll operations personnel.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a client-facing role.
- Strong overall US payroll experience.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end US payroll procedures and regulations, including taxes and Social Security registration and filings.
- Experience with in-house payroll processing and partner payroll providers.
- Strong customer or client support background.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Salesforce queues, Jira, and Confluence.
- Experience managing a large team.
