VP of Engineering
Lead a 30-person engineering team at Orb (now part of Adyen) building high-stakes billing and revenue infrastructure. Focus on technical strategy for correctness and scale, people leadership across multiple offices, and cross-functional partnership with Product and GTM in a hybrid SF environment.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Coach and grow engineering managers and senior ICs via hands-on mentorship, clear growth paths, and real career development.
- Build the engineering leadership bench and own talent and retention strategy as the team grows and expands to multiple offices.
- Set and clearly articulate technical strategy, holding your own in deep technical conversations and raising the bar on system design for correctness and scale.
- Partner cross-functionally with GTM and VP of Product to shape product, competitive, and monetization strategy.
- Establish technical and process foundations for next stage of growth: lightweight, high-leverage, and built to scale without slowing the team down.
Requirements
- 10+ years in engineering with several years leading engineering organizations, ideally at infrastructure, platform, or developer-tools companies.
- Infra- or platform-heavy technical background with real depth in distributed systems, data, and designing for correctness and scale.
- Experience scaling teams and systems through meaningful growth; excited to re-calibrate into scrappy, early-stage mode.
- Genuine interest in billing and monetization; usage-based pricing and revenue infrastructure is a domain you want to go deep on.
- Proven people leader who has coached managers, developed senior ICs, and built durable leadership benches, ideally across multiple offices.
- Strong cross-functional partner who works naturally with product and go-to-market to turn technical strategy into business results.
- Bias toward lightweight, high-leverage processes.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience at infrastructure, platform, or developer-tools companies.
- Background in billing/monetization domain.
Compensation and Benefits
- Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- One Medical membership.
- Unlimited PTO plus an additional week off between Christmas and New Year’s.
- 401k plan.
- 16-week paid parental leave with equity vesting.
- Commuter stipend.
- Catered lunches in the office.
- Annual learning & development stipend.
