Staff Product Manager, Foundations

Staff Product Manager owning Vanta's data platform strategy and roadmap. Drive scalable data infrastructure for compliance, monitoring, and AI use cases while partnering with engineering and cross-functional product teams to balance short- and long-term platform investments.

About the job

What you’ll do

  • Own the impactful Foundations roadmap, pairing closely with engineering counterparts to plan durable platform investments that serve our customers and products built on top of customer data.
  • Collaborate closely with other product teams to understand what platform investments they need to be successful, get ahead of their roadmaps, and create a plan that balances short and long term needs to support customer outcomes.
  • Directly drive the Vanta data platform strategy and support GRC strategies, creating clarity on sequencing and support as you build the platform and empower teams to use it.
  • Guide the hard tradeoffs between feature development and platform stability, using clarity and empathy to provide clean direction to other teams.
  • Enable and evangelize for the data platform, working with other teams to help encourage platform contribution and usage.
  • Work directly with customers to understand unique platform requirements and opportunities including shipping features directly to support an outcome.
  • Look ahead 12-18 months to build a platform that scales with Vanta, including building toward AI native uses and agent operations.
  • Create and measure key metrics and results for platform investments, and own key outcomes around scalability, feature enablement, and queryability.
  • Support an existing team of engineers and tech leads focused on the data platform.

How to be successful in this role

  • Have 6+ years supporting platform teams, with a preference for data platforms or data products. You’ve built and scaled data platforms before, and know how to make platform roadmaps successful.
  • Come having built 0->1 platforms. You’re not just comfortable with mature data platforms, but have experience building new systems over long time horizons with rich communication along the way.
  • Balance independence and strong communication. You don’t need someone to tell you what to build next, are comfortable learning fast and driving priority within your team, and proactively loop in engineering, other PMs, and your stakeholders before decisions land.
  • Have strong frameworks to build complex platforms with clear sequencing, goals, and progress tracking. You know how to tell the unique story of platform work internally and externally.
  • Be intensely curious and collaborative, naturally leaning into pairing with other teams to understand their platform needs, translate them into common requirements, and enable them as they develop new features and products. You’ve earned the trust of other teams and engineers with a track record of clear and unemotional decision making.
  • Be technically sharp with data platform topics. You need to have solid general knowledge of topics like data push/pull, databases and storage, querying, and APIs. You’re able to work seamlessly with engineers on complex topics while translating these clearly to stakeholders.
  • Be outcome oriented, keeping business and customer goals front and center as you build platform, laddering your efforts up to demonstrable impacts.
  • Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
