Responsibilities
- Own and deliver the dbt v2 roadmap, including new functionality such as SQL comprehension, compute, governance, and SAO.
- Define requirements for Fusion features that integrate with the dbt platform and unlock enterprise value.
- Keep the Fusion engineering team aligned, unblocked, and executing predictably.
- Contribute hands-on to the dbt Core and Fusion codebases through code reviews, documentation, and small feature implementations.
- Collaborate with open-source strategy leads, platform product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders on a unified roadmap.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience in technical domains such as developer tooling, data platforms, or open-source software.
- Strong understanding of system architectures, particularly local deployments and enterprise scaling.
- Understanding of how open-source investments drive product-led growth and product strategy.
- Ability to connect technical delivery with business impact, including revenue and growth metrics.
- Experience defining, prioritizing, and shipping complex technical features with engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills and empathy for open-source contributors and enterprise users.
Nice-to-haves
- Hands-on experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks.
- Experience with plugin architectures, extensibility systems, or platform ecosystems.
- Understanding of product-led growth and freemium-to-paid conversion strategies.
- Experience with SQL engines, query optimization, or compute systems.
- Prior engineering experience with modern development frameworks and languages.
Compensation and Benefits
- Oakland pay range: $243,936–$304,920 USD.
