Presales Customer Engineer, Enterprise
This customer-facing technical role leads enterprise discovery, architecture design, demonstrations, and proofs of concept while guiding customers through adoption, renewal, and expansion. It requires 7+ years of solutions or sales engineering experience, broad security and networking expertise, cloud knowledge, and commercial accountability.

Responsibilities
- Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery, build bespoke architectures, and deliver product demonstrations and Proofs of Concept across security, networking, Zero Trust, and developer platforms.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle, from onboarding through maturity, renewal, and expansion.
- Maintain alignment between customers’ evolving business goals and the product roadmap.
- Carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition and/or account growth.
- Drive platform adoption, revenue retention, and strategic cross-sell and up-sell opportunities using product usage data.
- Lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews for C-level executives and translate platform capabilities into return on investment.
- Use AI agents and internal platforms to automate RFP and security questionnaire responses, sandbox provisioning, and basic telemetry monitoring.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineering.
- Broad expertise in web security, networking, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise architecture.
- Knowledge of DDoS mitigation, firewalls, TLS, VPN, DLP, TCP, UDP, DNS, IPv4, IPv6, BGP routing, GRE, SD-WAN, MPLS, Local and Global Traffic Management, reverse proxies, WAF, CDN, forward proxies, secure web gateways, and serverless application development.
- Understanding of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), SASE, identity management, and authentication.
- Experience with cloud computing technologies including AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
- Scripting or programming experience with JavaScript, Python, Golang, or Bash.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements such as IRAP, GDPR, PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO/IEC, and Essential Eight.
- Experience in quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environments, with an understanding of SaaS metrics, business value translation, and enterprise sales cycles.
- Exceptional presentation and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to connect technical implementation details with C-suite business strategy.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building, deploying, or architecting solutions with Cloudflare’s developer platform and AI ecosystem, particularly Workers AI and AI Gateway.
- Experience with prompt engineering, large language model orchestration, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages for integration scripts, API connectors, and edge computing functions.
