Senior Software Engineer - Egress
The Senior Software Engineer will build and operate large-scale egress connectivity infrastructure, developing secure distributed systems with Go and Rust and collaborating across engineering, network, and SRE teams. The role includes production ownership, debugging, monitoring, and on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Design systems, write specifications, and develop software using Git.
- Create release plans for complex changes and coordinate production rollouts with other teams.
- Participate in team meetings, collaboration, and the on-call rotation.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues escalated to the Egress team.
- Respond to questions from internal teams in the team’s public chat room.
- Use AI-powered tools to analyze and extend codebases, inspect production systems and datasets, and accelerate problem-solving.
Requirements
- Programming experience in Go or Rust, with an interest in developing proficiency in both.
- Strong understanding of OSI Layer 3 and Layer 4 networking protocols.
- Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
- Experience implementing secure, highly available distributed systems.
- Strong debugging skills for complex systems.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Interest or experience in HTTP networking and VPN technologies.
- Interest or experience in network performance monitoring and tuning.
- Willingness to integrate AI tools into engineering workflows.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing.
- Professional systems-level programming experience in Rust.
- Experience building tools and APIs.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience participating in an on-call rotation.
- Professional experience using AI-assisted development tools.
Compensation
- Portugal-based hires: estimated annual salary of €66,000–€91,000.
- Eligible to participate in the company’s equity plan.
