Senior Backend Engineer, Core APIs
Build and operate highly performant Core API services for real-time fraud detection, owning reliability, observability, scaling, and production operations. The role requires 5+ years of backend experience with Go or Node.js and strong SRE practices.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize backend systems for real-time data processing and web services, prioritizing reliability, latency, and cost.
- Define and own SLIs and SLOs for Core API services and use error budgets to guide stability and delivery tradeoffs.
- Build observability through metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, dashboards, and actionable alerts.
- Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, and lead blameless postmortems.
- Automate operational toil and complete incident follow-up actions.
- Conduct capacity planning, load testing, performance tuning, and investigations into root causes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally on backend integrations and scalable services.
- Share reliability practices and mentor developers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend development experience, including operating production systems.
- Experience with formal SRE practices, including error budgets, capacity models, production readiness reviews, and chaos or fault-injection testing.
- Strong experience with Go and/or Node.js and scalable backend systems.
- Experience developing APIs, real-time data processing systems, and microservice architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, including service instrumentation, dashboards, and alerts.
- Experience with on-call incident response and postmortems.
- Strong SQL knowledge and experience with DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
- Proficiency with Git, IDEs, shell scripting, and CI/CD.
- Proficient English communication and ability to work independently and asynchronously in a global remote team.
- Willingness to mentor junior team members.
Nice to Have
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks.
- Performance profiling and cost optimization experience for high-throughput cloud workloads.
- Experience contributing to large open-source projects.
- Experience with both Node.js and Go in backend contexts.
- Understanding of Internet security and privacy mechanisms.

Compensation
