Software Architect
The Software Architect will drive hands-on platform modernization across engineering teams, pairing with developers and guiding adoption of target-state architecture, AI-assisted development, and spec-driven practices. The role requires 8+ years of backend software development experience and expertise in distributed, event-driven systems.

Responsibilities
- Drive platform modernization projects in accordance with Taskrabbit’s Target State Architecture.
- Apply AI tooling and Spec-Driven Development practices to modernize platform components.
- Pair with engineers and technical leaders to unblock modernization work and transfer architectural patterns into team practice.
- Advise on migration approach, sequencing, and risk as a subject matter expert in platform modernization.
- Advocate for Target State Architecture-aligned solutions in technical discussions.
- Collaborate with architects to maintain consistency across platform-wide modernization efforts.
- Write and review Technical Design Documents (TDDs) and RFCs, and coach authors on strengthening proposals.
- Define repeatable standards for tooling, coding, processes, AI usage, and documentation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, primarily building and scaling backend systems.
- Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
- TypeScript/Node.js experience preferred; experience with another strongly typed language such as Java or .NET may be considered.
- Experience with containerization and deploying containerized applications.
- Professional experience applying AI tooling and AI-assisted development practices.
- Excellent communication and consensus-building skills in technical design discussions.
- Willingness to lead and participate visibly in architecture and team design meetings.
- Comfort pairing directly with engineers and technical leadership.

- Base pay range: $150,000–$200,000 USD annually.
