Engineering Manager, Shipping & Logistics

Leads a cross-functional engineering team responsible for shipping and logistics systems, including carrier integrations, rate shopping, and label generation. Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow an autonomous, high-performing, self-managing, and inclusive engineering team through coaching, clear expectations, and thoughtful structure.
  • Own the shipping and logistics domain end-to-end, including carrier integrations, rate shopping, label generation, and supporting systems.
  • Set the team’s technical direction, backlog priorities, and delivery processes while balancing team, stakeholder, and company input.
  • Champion AI adoption, using AI agents for project planning, issue triage, and software development; review AI-generated work rigorously.
  • Uphold engineering fundamentals such as test-driven development, SOLID principles, and sustainable delivery practices.
  • Partner with Product and Design to shape the roadmap, estimate work, and communicate decisions.
  • Foster accountability, visibility, trust, and healthy communication across the team and with stakeholders.
  • Support hiring decisions and champion the company’s mission and values.

Requirements

  • 3+ years managing high-performing, product-focused software engineering teams with a record of delivering business value.
  • Recent hands-on experience as a software engineer, with technical depth in architecture, mentoring, test-driven development, and scalable system design.
  • Experience using AI agents as a standard part of engineering work, with the ability to explain their impact on team output.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software principles, including Scrum.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, manage stakeholder expectations, and make thoughtful tradeoffs.
  • Strong communication skills and experience building feedback-rich cultures of accountability and performance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in SaaS, startup, or ecommerce environments.
  • Exposure to shipping, fulfillment, reverse logistics, or complex integrations.
