Responsibilities
- Lead and hire a team building scalable distributed systems for Workers KV.
- Shape product features and improve performance for a globally used platform.
- Plan teams, oversee execution, and deliver commitments predictably.
- Build developer-loved APIs that scale.
- Support onboarding, professional development, and technical leadership within the team.
- Implement tools, processes, instrumentation, and methodologies while removing blockers.
- Navigate uncertainty and ambiguity to deliver novel technical solutions.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills, especially the ability to build shared understanding of systems.
- Experience leading and hiring engineering teams that build distributed systems.
- Experience delivering scalable distributed systems in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
- At least 4 years of recent professional experience with TypeScript or Go.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional design.
- Deep understanding of the web, including web browsers, HTTP, JavaScript, and WebAssembly.
- Track record of hiring, onboarding, and developing engineers.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building high-performance distributed systems.
- Experience delivering and operating critical cloud infrastructure, especially serverless platforms.
- Deep Linux/UNIX, kernel, or networking knowledge.
- Contributions to large open-source projects.
- Experience with distributed storage and cache architectures.
- Experience debugging, optimizing, and identifying failure modes in large-scale Linux-based distributed systems.
