Senior Engineering Manager, AI Platform
Leads a 7–10-person cloud engineering team building and operating Redpanda’s Agentic Data Plane. The role requires substantial software engineering and people-management experience, expertise in cloud infrastructure and distributed systems, and the ability to lead hybrid and remote teams across time zones.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 7–10 engineers building services for Redpanda’s Agentic Data Plane.
- Own end-to-end delivery for the team’s roadmap, including scoping, prioritization, execution, and high-quality launches.
- Maintain operational excellence through incident response, on-call health, SLOs, and day-two operations.
- Provide career development, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Hire, onboard, and retain engineers; participate in interview loops and calibrations.
- Lead a team working hybrid in Warsaw and remotely across EMEA, using async-first practices across time zones.
- Act as Redpanda’s senior on-site presence in Warsaw, supporting new hires and light office coordination.
- Partner with Product Management to shape the roadmap and translate priorities into engineering plans.
- Surface risks, dependencies, and trade-offs early.
- Use data to identify what is working and where to invest.
- Collaborate with Customer Success and Solutions Engineering to unblock customers and prioritize the roadmap.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including building and operating enterprise-grade SaaS platforms.
- 3+ years of experience managing highly technical engineering teams with a track record of delivery.
- Expertise in cloud infrastructure and operations, including hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure; Kubernetes; and distributed systems.
- Experience leading distributed teams across multiple time zones, including on-site and remote teams.
- Interest in agentic AI, the processes and infrastructure that support it, and AI-assisted software development lifecycles.
- Experience translating product priorities into team plans and delivering predictably.
- Comfort working in a fast-growing, dynamic environment with distributed teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and empathy for customers and teammates.
Nice to Have
- Golang proficiency or recent hands-on technical experience.
- Expertise in Linux systems used to run and operate production-grade services.
- Hands-on experience with data streaming platforms, AI/ML infrastructure, databases, or distributed storage systems at scale.
- Experience enabling teams to adopt AI code-generation tools while improving velocity and maintaining quality.
- Prior leadership experience in a satellite office or remote hub of a globally distributed company.
