Senior Software Engineer, Convert

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate distributed backend systems for recommendations and AI workflow execution using Python and TypeScript/Node.js.
• Own and harden infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes, improving reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Strengthen eventing and streaming systems through retries, backpressure, and recovery mechanisms.
• Reduce infrastructure single points of failure and share operational and on-call ownership.
• Design service and API boundaries and optimize MongoDB data models and queries.
• Build reliable systems on top of LLM-backed components and agentic workflows.
• Partner with product engineers, product managers, and designers to ship end-to-end solutions.
• Improve tested, observable, maintainable code and technical documentation.
• Mentor engineers on backend and reliability practices.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
• Business-level fluency in English.
• 5+ years of experience building and operating backend systems in production, ideally in scalable, multi-tenant SaaS.
• Deep experience with distributed systems, concurrency, asynchronous and eventually consistent processing, queues or streaming, and failure-aware design.
• Strong Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js skills.
• Experience modeling data in MongoDB or a comparable database.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability, including metrics, logging, and tracing.
• Commitment to testing, documentation, reliability, communication, and mentoring.
• Proactive adoption of AI and emerging technologies.

Nice to Have

• Experience with workflow or orchestration engines such as n8n, Temporal, or Airflow.
• Experience building or operating LLM-backed or agentic systems in production.
• Experience improving unreliable services to become highly reliable.
