Staff Software Engineer - Lifecycle Management
Build and scale Okta’s Lifecycle Management platform for identity importing, synchronization, and provisioning. The role requires strong Java and cloud infrastructure experience, expertise in resilient distributed systems and identity protocols, and the ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship.

Responsibilities
- Work with senior engineering teams on major development projects, including design and implementation.
- Contribute to implementation of the Lifecycle Management infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot customer issues and debug using logs, including Splunk and syslogs.
- Design and implement features with functional and unit tests, monitoring, and alerts.
- Conduct design and code reviews, analysis, and performance tuning.
- Prototype quickly to validate scale and performance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Collaborate with architects, QA, product owners, Engineering Services, and Tech Ops.
- Partner with Product Development, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to scope development and deployment work.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience in Java, preferably with significant experience in SCIM and Spring Boot.
- 5+ years of experience building services, internal tools, and frameworks.
- 2+ years of experience automating and deploying large-scale production services in AWS, GCP, or similar cloud infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of infrastructure technologies, including caching, stream processing, and resilient architectures.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and SOAP APIs.
- Ability to work effectively with distributed teams and people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers.
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related field.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with server-side technologies, including caching, asynchronous processing, and multithreading.
- Experience with test-driven development.
- Experience with UI development or JavaScript frameworks.
- Knowledge of identity and access management protocols and technologies, including OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, and SCIM.
