Responsibilities
Global Payroll Execution & Oversight
- Manage, audit, and execute multi-country payroll delivery across 15+ international countries, including payroll inputs, validation, approvals, funding coordination, reconciliations, statutory filings, and post-payroll activities.
- Lead the payroll calendar and operating cadence across countries, managing dependencies, cutoffs, exceptions, and risks.
- Partner with local in-country payroll providers to maintain adherence to regional pay schedules and statutory processing windows.
Compliance & Equity Management
- Oversee global equity compensation payroll processing, including RSUs and stock options.
- Ensure compliance with international tax jurisdictions, localized statutory benefits, and reporting requirements.
Systems & Scaling Initiatives
- Act as functional lead for payroll technology projects.
- Use Workday to automate workflows, optimize configurations, build custom reports, and support global payroll solution implementations.
Cross-Functional & Vendor Management
- Partner with Benefits, People Operations, Legal, and Finance teams.
- Manage external vendor relationships and third-party tax fulfillment partners.
- Ensure accurate funds reconciliation and local tax compliance.
Process Controls
- Establish, document, and enforce global payroll policies, SOX controls, and standard operating procedures.
- Support audit readiness for 401(k), workers’ compensation, and financial audits.
Strategic Growth Projects
- Support M&A integrations, new-country market entries, and business-critical cross-functional launches.
Requirements
- 5–7+ years of progressive payroll operations experience in a high-growth, publicly traded technology company with a global footprint.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in payroll, accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency with Workday Payroll, including reporting, configuration, and integrations.
- Experience with global payroll software platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including VLOOKUPs, INDEX/MATCH, and pivot tables.
- Thorough understanding of global equity taxation, statutory compliance, international labor laws, and multi-currency payroll distribution.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, discretion when handling confidential data, and exceptional communication skills.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience responding to internal, external, statutory, and financial audit requests, including preparing reconciliations, control evidence, and supporting documentation.
- Experience applying automation or AI tools to payroll operations, analytics, controls, case management, or knowledge documentation.
- Experience providing customer service to employees and business partners across regions, cultures, and time zones.
- Experience in a publicly traded, technology, or high-growth company and supporting international expansion or payroll transformation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $143,600–$201,000 USD.
- Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units; depending on the position offered, commission may also be available.
