People and Culture Country Lead
Leads people strategy and HR operations for Japan while supporting expansion in Korea, advising senior leaders on employee relations, compliance, mobility, and employee experience. Requires 8–10+ years of international HR experience and comprehensive knowledge of Japanese labor legislation.

Responsibilities
- Partner with Country Leaders in Japan and Korea to drive regional growth and translate global goals into local actions.
- Collaborate with Country Leaders and Workplace teams to build a cohesive culture.
- Oversee the full employee journey, ensuring each touchpoint is seamless, supportive, and legally compliant.
- Operationalize business-specific people strategies with global People Business Partners.
- Manage complex employee relations cases, performance improvement processes, and grievance issues.
- Localize policies and align them with global standards and Japan and Korean employment law.
- Own visa and immigration compliance for the Japan and Korea hubs.
- Refine and automate HR processes with People Operations.
- Support the rollout and management of competitive benefits packages.
- Create reports and analyses on retention, engagement, and performance.
- Represent the People function externally and help build the employer brand.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of relevant experience in regional HR management or generalist roles, ideally in a hyper-growth or fast-paced international environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Japan labor legislation and compliance.
- Experience independently managing complex employee relations cases.
- Experience scaling teams or managing HR topics across multiple geographies.
- Exposure to Korean labor frameworks is advantageous.
- Ability to advise and influence senior Country Leaders.
- Proficiency with modern HRIS tools; Workday experience is a plus.
- Data-driven approach to solving people challenges.
- Resilient, collaborative, ownership-oriented approach.
- Ability to build processes from scratch and optimize existing ones.
