Data Engineering Manager

Leads a Poland-based portfolio data engineering team building scalable ingestion, enrichment, and reconciliation pipelines for financial data. The role combines people management with hands-on technical leadership using Python or PySpark, SQL, relational databases, and Databricks.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a player/coach, contributing to and supervising a team of Portfolio Data Engineers in Poland.
  • Drive the technical direction for the Poland portfolio data engineering team in alignment with peers in other regions and the wider engineering community.
  • Build and manage a team of exceptional engineers.
  • Partner with multifunctional teams to design, develop, and deploy scalable data solutions that meet client requirements on time.
  • Lead development of pipelines supporting the ingestion, analysis, and enrichment of financial data in collaboration with business data analysts.
  • Advocate for standard methodologies and identify opportunities for automation and code and process optimization to increase throughput and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain process controls and accurate metrics that improve data quality and operational efficiency.
  • Deliver high-quality results and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading data engineering teams.
  • Several years of professional data engineering experience as an individual contributor.
  • Computer science degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Working knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language, including PySpark, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, and data pipelines.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of financial concepts such as stocks and bonds.
  • Passion for fintech and investment-management problem solving.

Compensation

  • Base salary range for roles in Warsaw: 380,000–456,000 złoty.
  • Starting pay is determined by role, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
